"One of the best players in the league, in my opinion, is Pietrangelo. He’s a Nick Lidstrom-type guy with his calmness and his execution and his offensive ability and his ability to play defense without being involved physically. I think he’s a special player and I’ve been saying that for a long time now. Now it’s showing. As you saw, Nick made a huge difference for us. (Pietrangelo) makes a huge difference there."

Top Seven Blues Games of the 2011-2012 NHL Season | Number 7: Edmonton @ St. Louis
January 5th, 2012
4 - 3

The Blues started this game well, getting a one goal lead in the first period and keeping Edmonton to just 3 shots in the opening twenty minutes. In the second period, however, this game quickly went downhill. The Blues took several penalties, some which were well deserved and some which were very questionable. At the end of forty minutes, the Blues found themselves down 3-1. They were able to tie it up, though, thanks to two early power-plays in the third. Pietrangelo and Backes were credited with the goals. The Blues went ahead 4-3 thanks to a Matt D’Agostini goal, which ended up being the game winner. This game showed the resiliency of this Blues team, and their ability to put a bad period behind them and come back to get a win. This game also gave us this gif, which definitely helped it make this list.

This is a positive post.

While we all wish the Blues could have gone further in the playoffs, there’s no denying that what the accomplished this season was great. They exceeded so many expectations.

Who expected them to finish second in the Western conference? Or win the Central? I sure as hell didn’t. And it’s not like they won an easy division, either. They won a Central Division that had FOUR one hundred point teams. They showed the rest of the league what Blues fans had known for a long time. We always knew they had a ton of potential that they weren’t quite hitting. They took a huge step this season. And it was amazing to watch them do it. This season was a coming out party for a team that had been on the cusp for a long time.  And while this season is over, they’ve gained experience, a (soon to be announced, hopefully) new owner, and they have a lot to build on for next season.

So while this is a disappointing ending to the season, it was an incredibly fun year. Personally, my favorite season as a Blues fan. This group of players is my favorite group of Blues that we’ve had. I’m extremely proud of this team.

So this is a post to reminisce on all of those great things that happened this season. Below the cut is a list of things I could think of; please add your favorite moments. There are a ton more, I’m sure. What were the most memorable moments of the season for you?
